Update – 08/23/25

It’s been a minute since I updated. I’ve been getting caught up in the writing from day to day and I’ve kind of let the website updates slide a little. However, I had to come and make a page for Ascension so I could list the content warnings. OMG, so scary and kind of spoilery, but at least it’s done. Yay!

What else:

  • Collateral Damage on Patreon is on hold until Ascension is finished. I love my Soul Mates characters, but Richard and Ryan are getting impatient and I can’t wait to spend time with them. I already have the cover and it’s freaking awesome!
  • Ascension is ALMOST done. Like, I know the end, I can see the end, the end is near…lol. Some people have asked about the length of the book, considering Secrets was a bit short. Ascension should be as long as Bound By Blood at around 90K-ish words.
  • Soul Mates Series Future Books: There are 2 more books/stories coming after Ascension, but they’ll be from different character POVs. Also, I’m toying with rewriting the two prequel novels – Eternally Theirs MMF and In the Shadows… which is MF, but with MM… so, kind of complicated. And Lucien piped up with, “hey, you should write the story of how I came here…” Which, granted, would make a good story, but it won’t be romance. He has reminded me there is still friendship and love, so we’ll see. Anyone interested?

  • Edits: I’ve edited all of the books in the Soul Mates series and uploaded them… EXCEPT for Secrets. The end really wasn’t where it needed to be. The storyline isn’t changing, just moving some things around and getting some things fleshed out that really should have been done before it was ever published.
  • Print: Yes, I’m working on getting all of the older titles re-released in print. One issue with this is that my cover artist stopped responding and books 2 & 3 have vastly different covers than the other main novels. So…yeah. I’m working on finding another artist that can make similar covers… or I’ll have to recover the entire series. We’re in wait and see mode. If we’re recovering… there will definitely be a box set. I just need to figure out where to put the shorts/novellas so they can be included.
  • Also Print: Bound by Blood IS available on Amazon. It’s also available at B&N, Walmart (online, at least) and some other retailers. Waterstones in the UK, I think. However, the AMAZON edition of the book is different from anywhere else and has an images in the chapter pages. Those will also be the editions (signed) that will be on sale in my shop for limited periods of time.
  • Audio: We’re at wait and see right now. As you might already know, audio production is expensive. I need to see how things go after Ascension releases and we’ll go from there. Considering that’ll be 10 titles? Well, that’s a lot.

Just an FYI:

As I mentioned a few weeks ago, all of the Soul Mates books are in the process of being updated to make sure everything aligns with the upcoming book Ascension. Bound by Blood and Deceptions have been the only titles so far to have content removed. The shorts/novellas are all up-to-date. Sacrifice and Secrets are still in-progress, but I’ll let you all know when those are complete.

If you bought the Soul Mates books on Amazon and currently have them in your Kindle library and want the updates, I’ll show how I got them to deliver for me. Amazon no longer pushes updates, apparently, so this is a method I’ve found to have worked every time. The next time you click the title, it should deliver the most recent version:

– Go to Content and Devices

– Go to Preferences–> Scroll down to Automatic Book Updates. Make sure this is ON

– Scroll back up and click on Content

– Find the title in your Book library.

– Deliver or Remove from Device. NOT DELETE PERMANENTLY!

– Choose devices… Make Changes.

The book will still be listed in your library, so when you click to open, it should sync to the Amazon server with the most recent copy.

Also… with the exception of Bound By Blood (because it’s still in KU), all of these titles are/will be available in my shop here.

Update – 04/30/25

I didn’t realize my last update was in December. Yikes! There’s not a lot that’s new, just a few things that are coming together. So here we go:

— Writing is still trucking along! As many of you already know, Patreon is where I’m posting my in-progress chapters. I didn’t think I could work on more than one book at a time, but it’s happening! We’re up to chapter 4 with Ascension and chapter 4 of Collateral Damage uploads on Saturday. That’s not all that’s written on them, so don’t freak out that I’m not further along, lol. There are another couple of things I’m percolating over, so we’ll see what else pops up.

— Soul Mates series books. As I mentioned recently, all of the short stories/novellas are coming out of Kindle Unlimited. However, I’m also pulling Deceptions, Sacrifice, and Secrets from there as well. Bound by Blood will remain for a little while longer. Those will all be available direct on my website and at other retailers such as B&N, KOBO, Apple, etc. May 2nd is the last day for KU. I’ve been asked about paperbacks and I don’t have a firm answer at the moment. Just know that’s on my to-do list.

Update – 12/26/2024

I went back and forth on whether I wanted to post this update or not. It always seems that whenever I do post or get excited about what I’m working on…life happens. Life has happened so hard since 2011/2012 that it’s been a struggle to just get from day to day, much less be creative while doing it. So through many illnesses, hospitalizations, surgeries, diagnoses–with myself and others–I put writing aside.

I just couldn’t do it. The words were gone.

In May 2024, a lot of things changed. Life stopped stabbing so hard and started putting pressure on those wounds that it had inflicted instead. I’ve kind of tried to just roll with it and be cool, but the distrust that this reality wasn’t quite “real” was strong. But here at the 7-8 month mark, wounds seem to have healed. Scars remain, but I’m slowly easing back into what I loved to do so long ago.

I never planned on a long cliffhanger between Secrets and Ascension. And I never willingly abandoned the series. More like it was ripped away and hidden until I was ready to find it again. Along with all the other works I had in progress. I tried to “come back” a few times, but the unkindness of some readers (likely anxious for the book, not another excuse why it wasn’t here yet) was so hard to ignore.

My skin’s a little thicker this time.

As of today, 12/26/24, Ascension is … oh, about 70% complete. The words are slow, but they’re coming every day. I’m trying to re-learn not to second-guess everything, but I’ve been away for too long. It’s a process, I know. And that’s how we do things now.

Small steps.

Consistency.

Looking forward to 2025… we’ll see where it goes.
